Depending on the ratio of these components, a substance with greater or less density is obtained. However, the degree of rigidity does not depend on the density of the material. In order to make soft foam rubber, special components are added to the mixture. Moreover, the material itself may have a higher density, that is, be less gas-filled than its more rigid counterparts. After all, the stiffness indicator depends on how mobile the bonds between the polymer molecules that make up the polyurethane foam are. And this value is measured by compressing the sample to 40% of its original volume.
